The CLEL Steering Committee consists of 13 members who are passionate in their belief in the importance of the library’s role in promoting early literacy skills for children aged birth through five and their caregivers. We are currently looking for 5 new Steering Committee members who will also act as Chairs and Co-Chairs for the following sub-committees: advocacy, grants and fundraising, training, and annual conference. Good with numbers and budgeting? Join our Grants and Fundraising Committee, which also represents the CLEL Bells! Want to inspire other organizations outside of libraries to value early literacy? Our advocacy team would love your ideas! Want to get more librarians involved in CLEL? Want to oversee the nation’s ONLY conference dedicated to early literacy in libraries? The membership and annual conference teams would love to have you!
The Steering Committee meets once every 3 months (January, April, July, and October), so if the time commitment is nerve-wracking, fear not. We meet in Centennial, but we have remote access for those who are unable to attend the meetings in person. Each member of the Steering Committee serves for a term of three years.
If you are a gung-ho guerrilla storytime guru, if you wake up singing Pete the Cat, or if you play to learn just like Mister Rogers said to, you are a perfect candidate for the CLEL Steering Committee. Be on a team on the forefront of early literacy in libraries!
