CATS Division Winter Workshop Call for Presenters!

The CATS Division Winter Workshop is coming, and we’re sending out the cat signal for fabulous presenters!
The 2018 Winter Workshop will be held on Monday, January 29th from 9:30-3:30 at Library 21C 1175 Chapel Hills Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
Workshop sessions will be 45 minutes in length.
There will be no monetary compensation. However, presenters will be able to attend the conference free of charge, with lunch included. (2 presenters for any panel sessions will receive the complimentary registration and lunch.)
Please send the title of your proposal, a brief description, and the names of any presenters and co-presenters to Brittany Dolezal at brittany@clearviewlibrary.org.
The deadline to submit your proposal is midnight on October 14th, so don’t delay!

Call for CATS Board Positions for 2018

It’s time to create our slate of officers for CAL Leadership!
 
Represent your division on the CAL board and give back to your fellow children and teen librarians while growing your skills and network. The positions up for election are Secretary, Member-at-Large, and Chair-Elect. (If you have any questions about the positions please email Nicole Burchfield at the email address below.)
 
If you know someone who you think would fit into one of these positions well, please encourage them to apply, and, of course, if you are interested we would love to hear from you as well.

10:15 – 11 – What Teen Volunteers Can Do For Your Library – by Resa Mai (Clearview Library District)

Learn how to get and give the most from your teen volunteers.  Understand what they need from us, what we can expect from them, and how to balance all of our expectations. You will leave armed with the tools to ensure an effective volunteer program,  a sample application, agreement, and evaluation.

11 – 11:45 – All About Gilpin County Public Library– by Director Michael Carlson

Have you ever wondered what the small mountain town library of Gilpin is up to? Find out directly from their librarians! Hear how the library remains vital to the Black Hawk community amongst rapid changes, including what services they provide and their plans for the future.

11:45 – 12:30 – News from CAL – A presentation from president Elect Carol E. Smith.

Hear from our upcoming CAL President about what she has planned for next year and how you can play a part in the future of CAL.  Bring your ideas for the future of CAL to share as well!  And, remember to renew your CAL membership. Support this organization that is always striving to build a better Colorado for all of the librarians who work in our beautiful state.
