9:00 am – 9:10 am – Coffee +  Welcome and Introductions Meet the board members of the CATS Division. Hear about what the year has in store for us.

9:10 am -10:10 am – Through the Eyes of a Child: The How and Why of Developmentally Accessible Libraries.
Discover ways to create a library that is designed to children’s needs through age-appropriate manipulatives and an organized, multicultural collection. You will also have the chance to hear about some successful and easy ways to implement teen programming that you can take back to your library. Presenters: Paula Ciberay, Jeannie Stewart, Gloria Chavira and Dennis Andrejko from the Wilkinson Public Library.

10:15 am -10:35 am – Better Together Family Book Club
Improve literacy skills in your community as a family unit! Learn how to create a bilingual family book club by collaborating with your local Reading Specialist. Presenters: Kelli Coppage, K-2 Reading Specialist, Telluride Elementary School and Gloria Chavira, Reference and Cultural Outreach Librarian, Wilkinson Public Library.

10:40 – 11:20 pm – Books Alive! Telluride Theatre
Bring your favorite children’s books to life and onto the stage! Watch clips from previous Books Alive performances and hear about how this incredibly popular program came to be. Presenter: Danielle Jenkins from Telluride Theatre.

11:25 – 12:25 – Dollar Store to Robotics
Are you stuck in a programming paddy wagon, ready to pull out your nose hairs?  Stress less, create more and get your cool on during this session on how Naturita Community Library chooses and strengthens programming, past and present.  Presenter: Susan Rice, Manager, Naturita Community Library.

12:25 pm – 2:00 pm – Lunch: on your own

2:05 pm – 3:05 pm – Ah Haa Tour and Introduction
Join us for a tour of the innovative Ah Haa School for the Arts in Telluride, dedicated to inspiring people of all ages to discover, nurture, and celebrate creativity. The Ah Haa School offers year-round classes, workshops, art trips and retreats, open studios, lectures, Family Days, exhibitions and special events in Telluride. Tara Carter, youth curriculum manager, and Jess Newens, assistant director, will lead us on a tour of the facility and provide an overview of the programs at Ah Haa.

3:10 pm – 4:10 pm – Children & Teen Services Brainstorming Session
Use this time to brainstorm with your fellow librarians. Discussion topics will be facilitated by
Brittany Dolezal from Jefferson County’s Golden Library & Beth Crist from the Colorado State Library.

4:15 pm – Adjourn
